Recycling Comparisons with Other Stabilisers
O.F.B. Soil Binder™ IS ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE
Cold In-Place Recycling is a method of reconstructing any flexible pavement where the need arises from structural failures. These failures include: wheel rutting, potholes, surface irregularities, or a combination of the above. Equipment and methods have evolved from mule-drawn disc harrows and tractor grouser bars to 1000 hp units with special equipment capable of pulverizing bituminous concrete in place to a precise depth, mixing that material with a liquid binder, such as O.F.B. Soil Binder™, and repaving to an accurate grade and profile.
Flexible pavements can be pulverized and blended with O.F.B. Soil Binder™ as the binding and stabilization agent, thereby greatly increasing load carrying capacity. Cold recycled bituminous material is placed and compacted by the same methods as used for hot bituminous material, via asphalt paver or spread by motor grader. Compaction to achieve the required density can be achieved with conventional equipment.
The Cold In-Place Recycling process with O.F.B. Soil Binder™ provides the following benefits:
√ Reflective cracking reduced or eliminated
√ Geometric restoration
√ Ruts eliminated
√ Existing natural resources reused
√ Economical
THE RECYCLING PROCESS
• The existing asphalt/material is milled/pulverized.
• The pulverized material blended/mixed with O.F.B. Soil Binder™.
• The new mixture is compacted.
• A final application of O.F.B. Soil Binder™ is applied to the upper base.
•After final compaction, the newly constructed base is ready for a new wearing surface
O.F.B. Soil Binder™ MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE

The recycling of an old asphalt road prior to application
Full-Depth Recycling occurs when all of the pavement structure and a portion of the sub-grade are blended and pulverized to form a homogenous mass utilizing the existing asphalt and O.F.B. Soil Binder™ as a binding and stabilization agent. This process will produce cost effective superior results and will reduce the depletion of valuable aggregate resources.
The recycling of pulverized asphalt with an existing base and O.F.B. Soil Binder™ will produce a dramatic increase in strength and moisture resistance. The ultimate result will be a longer lasting and superior base.
